Highway Song by Jessa Jacobs

Today Jessa Jacobs brand new series of Smokey’s Roadhouse Novels starts with book #1 Highway Song!

Blurb
How did that famous quote from that old movie go? Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world…Well, this was a biker bar, not a gin joint, and there wasn’t really a town nearby. But to have my long-lost stepbrother show up in the very place I’d washed up a month earlier like flotsam from a shipwreck – that was the same kind of irony.

Thank God he wouldn’t recognize me. I’d been ten years old when he last saw me seventeen years ago. Too bad for my battered heart that I now recognized what I’d only sensed as a child. My stepbrother the rock star was hot.

Review

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started this novel but as always Jessa Jacobs did not disappoint. Full of raw emotion, sizzling chemistry and drama Highway Song was a fabulous read!

Saying Amy has had a tough life would be putting it mildly. Having suffered abuse at the hand of her father from a young age, she ran away to escape him only to fall prey to more men who only wanted to use and abuse her. When she finally got help and things started to look up, she witnessed something she should never have seen and has been running ever since.

Now years later she’s working at Smokey’s Roadhouse, hiding in a deserted area hoping never to be found. The last thing she expected was Rex to walk into the bar, now a semi-famous rock star but still irresistibly attractive. Once upon a time he was her Step-brother for a while, before her father’s abuse drove him and his mother away, leaving 10 year old Amy behind.

She remembers him but he doesn’t recognise her. Their chemistry is undeniable and sooner or later sparks will fly. Will they be able to find happiness with each other or will Amy’s past continue to haunt them both?

This book – wow! I was blown away by the amount of raw emotion in this book – the things that Amy’s character has had to endure. I loved Amy and Rex’s relationship and the drama that unfolded between them. Amy’s past mixed in with Rex’s famous rock band world made for some great drama! I would highly recommend this awesome new series!

Rex

“Holy fuck!”

I was lifting a mug of ice-cold draft beer for my first swig when the exclamation from our manager, Mark Brent, caused me to miss and splash half of it over my hands as I flinched. The sound of Mark’s chair hitting the floor as he jumped to his feet accompanied his exclamation. I jerked my head up, getting ready to rip him a new one, only to see him running out the front door of the bar. I set my remaining beer down quickly and then followed Mark at a brisk pace, along with the others.

As soon as I was out the front door, the rest of the band members clustering around me, I saw the reason for Mark’s alarm. The bus was on fire.

Joe, the driver had an inadequate-looking fire extinguisher aimed underneath the vehicle, where black smoke roiled out unchecked by the foam. As soon as the guys saw what was going on, pandemonium broke loose. Unlike bigger bands, ours traveled with no crew. Our instruments and accessories, all but a drum kit, were in the luggage hold, perilously near the fire. Ike, the drummer, was the only one who didn’t run to the bus to rescue equipment, besides me.

I froze for half a second, and then used lungs more used to belting out rock music to yell. “Guys! Get away from there! It could go up. Holy shit, it’s just things.” Axel, Kirk and Cole ignored me, while Mark took off after them. I turned to Ike. “Call 911!”

“Rex, take a look around. There’s no town. This is just a shitty little biker bar in the middle of BFE-nowhere Wyoming. Where do you think a fire crew is going to come from?”

I lifted my gaze and stared out at the highway stretching from the east horizon to the west. Ike was right. Not a building in sight, other than Smokey’s Roadhouse, the bar where we’d stopped for lunch. The smoke from under the bus was dissipating though. Maybe the fire extinguisher had been enough after all.

Mark had managed to pull Cole, the bass player, away from the bus, but the two guitarists were still banging on the luggage hold, as if that would make it magically open. I couldn’t blame them. Between them, they probably had thousands of dollars’ worth of back line in that hold.

By rights it should have been in a crew bus. Even as I watched the bus destroy what might be our last chance to make it before some of the guys bailed on me, I knew it was my fault. Extinction wasn’t just our band name. It was a real possibility for our careers if this damn fire meant the bus wasn’t road-worthy.

Amy

He didn’t recognize me, thank God. I couldn’t afford for anyone to know who or where I was. After I calmed down, I reasoned it out. It had been seventeen years since he’d last seen me, and I was only ten at the time. There wasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell he’d know me now. Not only had I grown up, I’d grown up hard.

On the other hand, I knew what that cool once-over meant. His eyes lingered on my cleavage a second too long. If I knew men, and I had good reason to, he’d make a play for me sometime tonight. I couldn’t let that happen under any circumstances. It would just be too weird, even though our relationship was less than nothing.

His mother had married my father nineteen years ago. Like most of the women Dad attracted, she took off soon, though she did manage to last two years. She took her seventeen-year-old son with her. She hugged me before she left, and whispered, “I wish I could take you with me, honey, but he’d come after us. I’ll report him to the authorities.”

I had no idea what that meant, then. And if she did, it went nowhere. My dad needed a substitute punching bag, and I got nominated by default. Whenever I hid from him, I pretended my big stepbrother, Rick, would find me and take me with him this time. But his last words to me, “See you kid,” never came true. I hadn’t seen him again, until now.

The men at the table with Rick called him Rex. I’d changed my name too. During the course of an otherwise slow afternoon, I gathered a few bits of information as I served them. They were a band—a rock band I assumed—and their bus had caught fire in our parking lot. It looked like it wasn’t going anywhere soon. My boss, Smokey, said it would probably take the rest of the day for a mechanic to get here to assess the damage. Highway 80 had plenty of traffic, but it was a long stretch of just about nothing from Rawlins to Rock Springs.

Sweet Obsession by Olivia Linden

A brand new Stepbrother romance for you now, Secret Obsession by Olivia Linden is A Forbidden Love Novella with one hot Cowboy.

Blurb

Finn was the type of man that dreams were made of. A charming country boy. Handsome, hard working and loved his mama. Underneath? A freak in the sheets.

Raven knew he was everything she wanted. But he was her secret.

Raven was supposed to be off limits. Forbidden.

That didn’t stop Finn from wanting her, so he took her. After one taste he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop. Everytime she screamed his name an indelible blemish was etched onto his soul. Claiming him just as he had claimed her.

What they were doing was reckless which only added fuel to the flames. With each encounter they edged closer to the fire. Closer to disaster. There was no way for things to end well, but there was no way he could stop.

Lines get crossed, blurred and scratched down his back as they both give into their Secret Obsession.

Review

I’ve read my fair share of stepbrother romances recently, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this take on the genre. Being a novella it’s relatively short but nevertheless it’s still a good read.

Finn works on his family’s ranch, and he very much embodies everything a sexy cowboy should. When his mother re-marries he wasn’t expecting his new step-sister to move in too. But fed up of school Raven moves in for the summer and with their parents newly married she has to sleep in the room just down the hall from him. With a dancer’s body and that glint in her eye Finn finds it hard to stay away from her.

When their desire for one another becomes too much and they finally give in to their desire, there’s no stopping them any longer. Trying to keep their affair a secret whilst living in the same house as their parents is hard enough but as their feelings for one another grow they soon become reluctant to hide their feelings for much longer. But what will their relationship cost them and their parents?

This book was a good, easy read and as a novella its a fairly quick read. The chemistry between Finn and Raven is indeed very steamy and I really loved the cowboy element to the book. My only issue was the ending where they encounter a problem in their relationship but then it skips to the epilogue without detailing how the problem was fixed and often that’s my favourite part of the story. Other than this though Secret Obsession was another great stepbrother romance.

Raven stood amongst the spectators as Finn strolled towards the bull. She might as well have been standing alone. Her entire world had been narrowed down to focus on him. The sexy sway of his gait, the way his t-shirt hugged the muscles in his back, and his nice tight ass. And she loved that he wasn’t cocky. Finn had an easy confidence about him that she found very disarming. His warm brown eyes seemed to look right into her, and made her wonder how much of her soul he could see.

Hopefully not enough to know how bad she wanted him. He turned back to wink at her and she felt the flush rise up her neck and cheeks.

In one quick leap, Finn threw one long leg and then the other over the bull. He straightened his back, placed one hand on the hook, and raised the other in signal of his readiness. The music started and after a backwards count from three to one, he was set in motion. After his first five seconds, Raven knew he wouldn’t be falling off anytime soon.

He was magnetic. Looking cool, confident, and in total control as he kept his balance while the bull jerked and swayed. The way he eased his hips forward and arched his back to move with the momentum of the ride was beyond sexy. And the crowd ate it up. Some women cheered, others watched with the same dreamy expression. Finn was a living, breathing fantasy.

The guys placed bets. Most bet that he would last more than a minute. Others thought he would fall at the next unexpected shift. They were clearly haters. No doubt, Finn held the attention of every woman in the room.

He rode that bull for one minute and forty-five seconds. Then he let go on his own accord and threw himself onto the mat, hopping to his feet in the same motion. Raven stood in awe, with her lips slightly parted when he approached her.

“Your turn.”

“I–”

Finn shook his head and took her by the arm to guide her to the bull.

“No backing out Miss ‘I know how to work my hips’. You’re up!”

Raven didn’t have time to protest. Before she knew it, Finn had her lifted onto the bull and adjusted for the ride. Once she was seated and the popular country song began to play, her nerves settled and her natural performer’s nature kicked in.

“You good?” Finn asked. Raven waved him off, shaking off the trepidation with a wink of her own.

“I got this!”

She raised one arm to signal and then she began to move.

Standing with his arms crossed and a big smile on his face, Finn watched on with a mixture of pride and enthusiasm. He hadn’t seen her, but he’d felt Raven’s eyes on him when he’d rode. Now he was able to watch her, and boy was it a treat.

After a shaky start, where it looked as if she would be thrown in her first three seconds, she righted herself, and rolled with the jerky motions of the bull, syncing to the beat of the music. He couldn’t stop staring at her, not even when Buck tapped him to comment on how hot she looked up there.

In his mind she was riding for him alone, like he was the only man in the room. Without thinking, Finn stalked forward, too drawn to her to stop, and jumped on the bull behind Raven. She laughed wildly and let out a loud hee-haw. He slid an arm around her waist and pulled her close.

“Hold on, baby,” he whispered in her ear.

Raven’s laughter died down to an uncontrollable smile at the erotic sensation of Finn being so close to her. Finn’s chest pressed against her back. His fingers clutched her hips to guide her to his tempo. And his obvious arousal pressed against the crease of her ass. If she weren’t having so much fun, she would have fainted from overheating.

While they rode he whispered and crooned words of encouragement in her ear. “That’s nice, baby,” and “I love the way you ride,” made her tingle down to her toes. It was all in fun, but she couldn’t stop thinking about how good his body felt against hers and how she could tell he felt the same way. But she knew that they had just crossed some sort of invisible line, a broken yet unspoken rule, and committed an infraction in the whole stepfamily hierarchy.

She knew she was supposed to care.

But she didn’t.

Review

I’ve really enjoyed this serial so far and can’t wait to see which direction it heads in. At the end of the last book a misunderstanding has Chelsea running away from the ranch and Travis. Now in different places they both find it difficult to forget the other yet Travis keeps holding back. He’s keeping a secret from Chelsea, making everyone around them swear not to tell her until he does. But the longer he keeps it from her the further apart they grow.

When circumstances lead them back to each other once again will Travis finally tell Chelsea the truth? With Travis’ Dad in a bad way they must support each other and find a way to make it work, even if that risks their relationship being discovered.

Tensions are definitely running high for Travis and Chelsea, with both their relationship, Travis’ Dad and him keeping secrets from Chelsea. Now Cozy is involved he has no choice but to come clean soon, and I can’t wait to see how it pans out! Bring on the finale!

Chelsea

I’d given in and accepted the gift of Tex’s pickup, an extended-cab Chevy. When I’d seen Mom and Tex off at the airport, I went back to the ranch to pack and wait for the next morning before making the thousand-mile drive to San Jose. It was a long drive, over seventeen hours in all, and the closest town to the half-way point was a wide place in the road called Rome, Oregon.
I pulled into a 1950s-era motel and stumbled out of the cab like a drunk on a staircase. My legs didn’t want to work, and I was hungry, having skipped lunch in favor of getting to my stopping place by dinner time. Feeling older than dirt, I asked the woman at the counter where I could get something to eat. Fortunately, the tiny restaurant attached to the nearby gas station was open. As I waited for my order of barbecue beef and coleslaw, I tried to text Cozy, only to discover that I was out of cell range.
The terrain I’d driven through was virtually deserted, so I shouldn’t have been surprised. It made me feel as if I’d dropped out of modern America and landed in an alternative universe where all the natives stared at me as if I were the alien. Ignoring the people passing by to get a better look at me, I dug into my meal with gusto, only to discover it was a far cry from the same items Mom had prepared for her barbecue on the fourth of July. How long ago that day seemed!
I knew I’d miss Cozy when I planned my itinerary. It didn’t seem right to leave before Mom and Tex did. There was a chance I’d never see him again, so I spent the last few days at the ranch trying to show him how much I’d always appreciated him. I hadn’t ever verbalized it, and it seemed too obvious to do so now, but I wanted him to know. He went along with my efforts as if I’d always brought him a fresh cup of coffee at breakfast, or baked his favorite chocolate-chip cookies in the blazing summer heat.
Now at the halfway point in my journey, I determined to stop looking back and instead look forward. I had the two canvasses in the back of the extended cab, carefully wrapped against the jostling they’d receive on the road. I had the rest of the photos, and I had the sketch. My task was set out for me.
I even had a schedule worked out. Most of the galleries didn’t open until noon, so I planned to paint in the mornings. I’d clean up and apply to the galleries for whatever positions they may have open in September in the afternoon, and in the evenings I’d search the internet for a gallery to take my series of paintings when they were done. I knew it would be a small one because I was unknown, and therefore, I needed to find one that specialized in Western art. It wasn’t a theme I’d ever studied before, so finding that one gallery that would give me a chance might take weeks. It was okay. It would take weeks to finish the series, too. And last of all, the pièce de résistance, the nude.
For that, I needed a canvas worthy of the subject. Six feet tall, almost life-sized, I’d paint Travis with all the passion he’d awakened in me. And if I was lucky, when I was done, he’d be out of my system and out of my heart. Because the brief fantasy we’d had together could never be. He wasn’t the man I’d built him up to be, and besides, there was the complication. The knowledge that always prickled the back of my neck when I thought about our trysts. He was my stepbrother. Off limits in the eyes of society.
That we’d shared not only sex, taboo as it was, but kinky sex, was a secret I’d take to my grave, except for Cozy’s knowledge. She would never tell, so it was something I’d lock away forever and try to be satisfied with whatever man I eventually landed for my own. I couldn’t imagine a future with a man like Travis in it. That would have been a fairy-tale come true.
As I went to bed that night in a lumpy old bed in a run-down motel in the middle of nowhere, I called up the memories. I’d give myself until I finished the nude painting to relive them, wallow in them, and dream about them.  And then I’d banish them forever.
Just before I went to sleep, a pang of loss made me shiver. How would I cope with Tex’s death and getting over Travis, without Cozy to run to when I needed a shoulder to cry on? She wouldn’t be there when I got to San Jose. I didn’t even know where she was going. I didn’t know when I’d ever felt so alone.

I was caught between the irresistible force of my attraction to Travis and the immovable object of the taboo nature, not only of the relationship itself, but also of the sex play. I’d never done some of those things in my life, and I couldn’t wait to do more.

Then there was my best friend, Cozy. Her reaction to my revelations about sex with Travis wasn’t expected. And soon she’d be here, at the ranch. I dreaded the scene when they confronted each other.

To make matters worse, something wasn’t right with my stepdad. Travis seemed worried, but neither of us could put our finger on what it was about this whole week long anniversary party that made us uneasy.

All I could do was hang on for the ride.

Review

This series is definitely getting hotter! As the week of celebration continues, Chelsea and Travis have been running around in secret to get some alone time. With Chelsea’s hidden desires out in the open, it’s made for some ….interesting rides out into the ranch 😉 Things were going well until Travis found out about Cozy’s knowledge of the two them. With her arrival only days from now, their first meeting could change everything. What’s more Travis’ Dad has been hiding something since they arrived, in fact the whole week of celebrating seems a bit weird for only a 10 year anniversary.

As the final party draws closer Travis and Chelsea must work through their differences to prepare for Cozy’s arrival and to uncover what’s really going on with their parents.

I have really enjoyed reading this series so far, and I love the way Chelsea and Travis’ relationship is building. And what a cliffhanger!! Seriously can’t wait to read the next instalment!

Chelsea

On the morning after my eventful day, Wednesday, I woke to the sound of excited children outside. Glancing at my bedside clock, I saw I’d missed breakfast. I moaned and rolled over to get out of bed. Every muscle ached, and when I shuffled to the bathroom to pee, my appearance in the mirror shocked me.

My hair was a mass of dark tangles, there were bags under my eyes and I looked like I’d been on a three-day bender. Either that, or the Western expression, like I’d been rode hard and put away wet. Which of course was exactly what had happened.

“Mmmmm,” I said aloud. “Totally worth it.”

I couldn’t face Mom, or anyone else for that matter, looking the way I did, so I took a shower and made myself presentable. I couldn’t remember what was on the agenda today, but I thought it was more card-playing, and maybe taking the kids to the pool again. If so, I was going to duck out and go somewhere to sketch. There’d be plenty of time to paint after we had the place to ourselves again, but at least I could get some scenes planned.

Besides, I needed some time to myself to think. This thing with Travis, never a good idea in the first place, had gotten out of hand. His charisma and my appreciation for his beautiful body pulled me toward him, when everything I knew of him should have warned me away. The sex kept me going back for more. In the light of day, what I’d said to Cozy about making him fuck me rough, outside and in daylight, seemed crazy. So why did I feel moisture gathering between my legs at the very thought?

I had to get my mind off that subject while I went to the kitchen to cadge something to eat. Otherwise, I’d walk in blushing and leave after spilling my guts to Mom, who wouldn’t stop prying until she knew what was causing the blush. That would be a disaster of epic proportions. Not only would it ruin her party, it could destroy her marriage.

The fact that I had to make an effort not to think about Travis should have warned me I was already on dangerous ground. To help me get my expression and color under control, I thought about Cozy and her upcoming visit. She’d be here in just two days! I could hardly wait to see her, even though I’d only been here at the ranch for about a week. Of course, her being here would put a damper on extracurricular activities with Travis…stop it. Don’t think about him.

I took a deep breath, squared my shoulders and marched down the stairs to the kitchen. Whether or not I could keep my mind off Travis and last night’s amazing sex, I needed food, coffee and a visit with Mom. I’d had hardly any girl-time with her so far except for our trip to Missoula. But when I got to the kitchen, she wasn’t there. I made some toast, got a cup of coffee from the carafe on the counter and sat down to try to remember any errands she’d asked me to do or accompany her on this morning.

When I came up with a blank, I shrugged and went to get my sketch book. It looked like a good day to get out away from the house and other people, where I could be alone with my thoughts. I went out the back door, not yet decided whether to take a horse and really get away, or just walk a mile or so into the trees at the edge of the big meadow. I wandered to the stable to see which horses were there, and found Travis saddling Thunder.

“Oh, hi. I didn’t think you’d be around. No chores today?”

He turned around and looked me over. “So that’s the way we’re playing it? Business as usual?”

I tilted my head while I sorted out what he meant. Surprised, I concluded he was talking about last night’s sex, and sure, how else would we play it? I raised one eyebrow. “Unless you have a better idea, yes.”

He shook his head. “Okay. Whatever you say. Were you going to saddle up?”

I looked around at the few horses still in the stable. “Thinking about it. Where is everyone?”

“They went for a ride. Your mom, my dad and most of the guests. We’ve got the place to ourselves, if…”

“When will they be back?”

He shrugged. “They’ve been gone almost three hours. Any time now, I’d expect.”

I supposed it was obvious I was stalling for time to answer. The thought that someone could come home and possibly discover us dampened my enthusiasm for the hint he’d put out there. He turned back to Thunder and began adjusting straps.

“Travis,” I began. “Where are the hands? Why aren’t you with them? Aren’t they short-handed, now that…”

He turned back to me, a frown marring his handsome face. “Yeah, more than you know. One of the other guys left, too. It’s just Hank and Miguel now. They went to town to try to recruit some new hands. Bad time of year for it. Most that are any good have already signed on somewhere.”

I covered my mouth with my hand. Shaking my head, I took it away. “This is all my fault. I’m so sorry.”

In two steps he was at my side. He took my upper arm in one big hand and shook it gently. “It is not your fault. You didn’t ask the asshole to put his hands on you. That wasn’t okay.”

No, it wasn’t. But Travis putting his hand on me now was very okay. In fact, I wouldn’t have objected if he’d taken my other arm and pulled me into a kiss. But he didn’t. He dropped my arm almost as quickly as he’d grabbed it.

“I’m sorry,” he said, pressing his lips together. “Look, if you want to go with me, I’m going to ride out and make sure that little herd in the meadow is still together and see if I can round up any stragglers from the woods. What were your plans?”

With his question, he’d moved us right past the moment of awkwardness and I didn’t have the chance to answer his peculiar apology. I didn’t know what he was sorry for., but I was sorry for a missed opportunity. “I was just going to sketch, but if you’re going out to work, maybe I’ll sketch you. Would that be okay?”

His serious mood dissipated, and he grinned. “Well, I will have to keep my clothes on today. Seeing me naked might spook the cattle.”

I rolled my eyes. This Travis I understood. I was even beginning to like the wise-cracking, easy confidence he showed, almost to the degree of cockiness. Sparring verbally with him was beginning to be second nature, and if we could keep that up I wouldn’t have to think about the secret side of our relationship. The dangerous side. The side that even now crept into my consciousness and caused my nipples to tighten inside my bra.

“Oh, all right. If you must. It won’t be authentic, you know, if you’re dressed. Didn’t all old-West cowboys do their work with no shirt on, at least?”

“You wish.” He laughed, but the tease came closer to the truth than he needed to know.

“You wish I wished,” I retorted.

He turned impossibly blue eyes on me. “Yeah, I do.”

Bewildered (Irrationally His #2) by Jessa Jacobs

Stepbrother romance serial, Irrationally His, continues today with book two Bewildered by Jessa Jacobs. This is one hot cowboy you don’t want to miss out on!

bewildered

SYNOPSIS

What had gotten into me? As a student, I’d sketched nudes before. Not once had I been tempted to have sex with any of them. Not even the really hot ones. It was as plain as the sexy tattoo on Travis’s shoulder that I was out of control and getting worse by the minute.

I wasn’t sure what this was, but I couldn’t seem to stop, and Travis didn’t make it any easier with his constant temptations. I couldn’t help but feel it wouldn’t end well, and yet, I was drawn to him like a moth to a flame. I knew how that usually turned out.

We were playing a dangerous game, one where I knew I could be hurt. But was it fair that innocent bystanders could also get hurt?

Bewildered is Part Two of the serial romance, Irrationally His. It is approximately 66 pages according to Amazon’s estimate, or about 20,000 words. It is not a standalone as it contains a cliffhanger.

Wow! Ms Jacobs has really stepped it up in book 2. Chelsea & Travis are really feeling the heat and I can’t wait to read what happens with them next! Their story took a turn I wasn’t expecting but I’m excited to see where it leads next – bring on book 3.

Photographing my stepbrother in action on his horse that afternoon had given me quite a few images I thought would be marketable, and the nude sketch was incredible, if I said so myself. Of course, I was ignoring the elephant in the room.

What had gotten into me? As a student, I’d sketched nudes before. Not once had I been tempted to give any of them a blow job. Not even the really hot ones. It was as plain as the sexy tattoo on Travis’s shoulder that I was out of control and getting worse by the minute.

How had I gone in less than a week from being enraged that he’d seen me topless to the state I found myself in tonight? Despite the incredible sex here in my room the other night, despite the shattering orgasm he’d given me with his tongue this afternoon, I was too keyed up to sleep. All I wanted was for him to knock on my door again tonight.

He probably wouldn’t. I’d thrown myself at him this afternoon, and though he cooperated—hell, he’d joined in with gusto—I already knew he was just playing with me for a good time.

After our parents’ wedding anniversary, he’d leave the ranch and that would be that. And I’d agreed to it. After all, what could come of falling for him? We’d never get away with pursuing a relationship in the open. That would just be too weird.

Too restless to sleep, I checked the time. It was late, but my bestie was in a later time zone. Maybe she’d still be up. I took the chance.

“It’s about time you called me, bitch,” she said, instead of ‘hello’.

“I know. What’s it been, twelve hours? You must have thought I’d died or something,” I answered in kind.

“I did. I totally thought you’d died. Seriously, I’ve been pacing the floor all day wondering how the posing project went. Was he willing?” Cozy’s tone was eager. Was she getting off on this? The bitch!

Was he willing, hmmm. How should I answer that? I’d barely suggested he pose nude when he was out of his clothes like a flash, all that yummy man-flesh on display…

“Yeah.”

“Yeah? That’s all you have to say? Spill it, slut, or I’ll…”

“Okay, yes! He was more than willing. Oh, my God, Cozy, he’s… Well, just wait ‘til you see the paintings.”

“Fuck the paintings, send me the photos.” She laughed, and I couldn’t blame her. I’d already described his chiseled chest and abs, and in fact had revealed he was endowed with a well above-average package.

“I can send you the best photos, but he wouldn’t let me take any of him nude. All I have is a sketch.”

“NUDE! DAMN, girl!”

I pulled the phone away from my ear just in time to keep from having my eardrum burst from her exclamation. When I could hear she’d settled down, I put it back.

“I told you I was going to ask him.”

“I didn’t believe you. You slut! What did he say? How did it happen?” Cozy was always one to want the juicy details, and I had plenty to give her.

“Well, I’d had him take his shirt off for the second round of action photos, on the horse. When we were done, he stretched out on the blanket and…”

“And what? Don’t tease me, girl.”

“Hold your horses. Jeez. Wait, I need to go back…”

I reminded her he’d said it in jest when I first brought up the subject, asking me if I wanted him to pose in the nude. Then I told her about the conversation we’d had about how much the paintings might bring.

“Honestly, Cozy, it was weird. Like the money wouldn’t mean anything to him. But I did downplay it a bit. He asked how much a nude of him might bring. I told him a couple of thousand.”

“What kind of cut were you offering him?” she asked, ever the finance guru.

“We’d talked about ten percent of the other ones. He’d probably want fifteen or twenty for the nudes. Even though the risk of our parents ever seeing them would be small. But honestly? I think they could go for five-k. You should see it.”

“It meaning his cock?”

“It meaning the sketch, skank. Jeez, Cozy, when did you turn into such a perv?”

“I’ve always been a perv, and so have you. The difference is, I admit it.”

About Jessa Jacobs

Like you, I’m a reader. When I read a good story with characters I can connect with, my everyday existence fades into the background as I enter a world that may contain exotic locations, adventure and excitement. And, if I can be totally honest with you, in my favorite stories I can fall in love for a while with an impossibly gorgeous guy who is the best lover imaginable.

So, maybe it won’t come as a surprise that in my books you’ll find hot alpha male book-boyfriends, sassy heroines who are much more clever and beautiful than I am, and stories I hope will make you laugh and cry while reading them, as I did while writing them. Oh, and some scenes you may want to role-play with your lover.

Bothered (Irrationally His #1) by Jessa Jacobs

Another awesome serial by Jessa Jacobs starts today – this time a stepbrother romance! Bothered is the first book in the Irrationally His serial and promises to be one hot ride!

Blurb

“You do know you’re trespassing, right?”

“I’m not trespassing.”

He quirked one eyebrow, the challenge clear. Then he looked pointedly at my chest again.

I crossed my arms. “My mother is married to the owner of this ranch.”

His eyes widened. “Is she? How nice for you.”

With a cocky grin, he tossed my shirt to me, but didn’t look away. “I’m crushed you don’t remember me, Sis.”

It was one of the most humiliating moments of my life. It was supposed to be private here, but I’d been caught sunbathing nude.

The hot cowboy got a much better look at me than I got at him, but it didn’t matter anyway. He was off-limits. I’d just met my stepbrother after ten years of avoiding the hateful brat. During which, I guess we both grew up.

Review

After a stunning debut serial from Jessa I was really looking forward to this new serial – especially as it’s got hot cowboys in it!

After Chelsea’s Mum re-married and moved to a ranch with her new husband and step-son, Chelsea stayed with her Dad and her friends in the city. 10 years later she’s visiting the ranch for their wedding anniversary, expecting ranch hands and rodeos but not her gorgeous stepbrother.

Thinking she was alone at the ranch she takes a risk and decides to sunbathe with her top off – she didn’t count on falling asleep though! When she’s caught by a handsome cowboy she was mortified but nothing could be worse after she finds out he’s her step-brother. Now faced with a summer spent with her sexy as hell stepbrother, whose not only completely off limits but has also seen her practically naked, her summer just became a whole lot more complicated. Will she be able to stay away?

This is a fantastic start to the series – Travis promises to be one HOT cowboy! A really captivating story, smoking hot scenes and great character chemistry – a new serial not to be missed!

Chelsea

“You do know you’re trespassing, right?”

The voice startled me from a sound sleep and my eyes flew open to reveal what I at first thought was a vision straight out of my book. From my position, lying on my back, he looked too tall to be real, and the tight-fitting jeans, plaid Western shirt, and Stetson hat did nothing to dispel that thought. The expression on his face puzzled me at first. A wide grin revealed perfect teeth and belied the words he’d spoken.

I started to answer when I noticed his eyes flick from my face to my—oh, my God! My chest. My bare boobs. What the hell? I crossed my arms over myself and sat up in one motion. Looking around wildly for my shirt, I heard him speak.

“Looking for this?”

I hadn’t answered his accusation of trespassing, but I had plenty to say about him holding my shirt out of my reach. I wanted to cover way too much quivering flesh A-S-A-P. Thank God my lower half wasn’t naked. That would have been too much. Literally.

“Give me that, you bastard!” As I spoke, I lifted my face to glare at him. With a cocky grin, he tossed my shirt to me, but didn’t look away. “You could at least turn your back while I put this on.”

When he didn’t, I snarled, “You’re no gentleman.”

“Didn’t say I was,” was his laconic reply.

When he still didn’t turn away, I had no choice but to let one arm move to retrieve the shirt, and then to expose my boobs to his gaze again as I lifted my arms to pull the shirt over my head. Although I was covered, it wasn’t much better as the shirt was a bit too small, and in my haste to cover myself, I’d skipped the bra. A quick glance downward made me groan. In the now-chilly air under the shade of a tree, my traitorous nipples were in full evidence under the thin shirt. As was my belly. I sucked it in.

I was at a severe disadvantage in my sitting position on the ground, so I stood to look him in the eye. It wasn’t usually a problem for me to look a man in the eye, at my five-eleven height. Nevertheless, I had to look up several inches to meet his. “I’m not trespassing.”

He quirked one eyebrow, the challenge clear. Then he looked pointedly at my chest again.

I crossed my arms. “My mother is married to the owner of this ranch.”

His eyes widened. “Is she? How nice for you.”

“How long were you standing there getting an eyeful before you woke me?” I asked. I was about two seconds from punching this asshole in his pretty face.

“Oh, I don’t know,” he answered with a slow

drawl. “Ten minutes? Fifteen?”

“You bastard!” I exclaimed again. “I assume you work for my step-dad. I’m going to have you fired.” “You assume wrong, Chelsea,” he said.
