Marc:
I’d never denied myself a woman in my life.
And frankly, they’d never denied me either. I’m not bragging, I know what I look like. It’s just the way things are. But Tara was something special.
“And what are you going to do to pay off the next student loan, Tara? You screw me over now and I’ll get you banned in every casino in the country.”
We were back on familiar territory. Sooner or later they all called me that. Now we had it out of the way, I knew what to do with this conversation.
Review
After book one I was really looking forward to reading this second part! Marc has been tutoring Tara for the tournament but with their sizzling chemistry its becoming increasingly hard for them to keep it purely professional. With Tara’s amazing mathematical mind she’s breezing her way through her games and with the amount of money she’s managed to win, she realises not only does she have enough to pay off her student loans but also to go back to school.
When she tells Marc she wants to go back to school, he doesn’t take it well. He’s been keeping things from her and when he refuses to tell her the truth and instead makes matters worse, Tara does the one thing she can and runs. Will Marc be able to bring her back and stop with the half truths he’s been feeding her?
Marc and Tara are walking a dangerous line between sizzling chemistry and a professional relationship – even if Marc wins her back, how long will they be able to keep their hearts out of the equation?
So in love with these books! I really enjoy reading about both their relationship and about Tara’s fascinating mind. Can’t wait to see where Jessa takes it next – will these two be able to work it out? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see! Bring on book 3!!…now please?! 😉
